Underneath It All

6th May, 2015

Personal style encompasses so many things ~ from the way you decorate your home to how you take your coffee to the pencils you prefer to draw with to what you put on in the morning and what you wear underneath that: it’s all a matter of style.

In the same way that I’ve been able to define and streamline my clothing codes over the years, I’ve similarly figured out what kinds of intimate apparel I like best ~ and I have just as much fun with it as I do with what goes over top. Bodysuits are a big thing for me (I’ve mentioned this a million times I’m sure); I wear them almost every day under almost every thing.

In the winter, they provide an extra layer of warmth; in the summer, they wick the sweat and keep it from seeping out to your clothes. When you’re feeling extra curvy, bodysuits help keep everything in place. When you’re feeling really svelte, they look awesome worn with nothing but a pair of low-slung pants and a killer pump. They make sheer tops look really chic, and they let you leave *just one button too many* undone (my own preferred way to tease).

Similarly crucial are bras with prettily-detailed necklines (see HERE for a prime example of why I love this look so much), briefs that are edged in lace (not elastic!), silky little slips to wear around the house (so much more inspiring than a t-shirt and shorts), and high-wasted knickers (some may call them granny panties, I call them super cool under see-through summer dresses).

My favorites these days come from Triumph, a line founded in Europe in 1886 that is finally making waves on this side of the Atlantic. I was introduced to their bodysuits through a collaboration with Refinery29, and since then I’ve stocked up on just about everything else. It’s so hard to find truly immaculately fitting lingerie, so when I find something that works I buy in bulk!
