Brigitte Bardot Beauty

13th April, 2015

The best beauty looks deliver maximum enhancement with very little product: there’s nothing more ‘vintage’ than an over-caked face. That’s why, for our Brigitte Bardot-inspired story, ‘And God Created Liza‘, we called in the help of Sarah Lucero, Stila’s Global Director of Creative Artistry. Her company is known for making some of the finest natural-looking brow liners and bombshell eyeshadow palettes around, so we knew she’d excel in articulating an homage ~ not hauling out mothballs. Below, in Sarah’s own words, is an easy to follow how-to on executing the look yourself!

SARAH LUCERO: I wanted Liza’s makeup to look and feel like a modern-day version of Brigitte Bardot, with a strong focus on making her eyes intense and super sultry.

To ensure Liza’s fresh skin remained luminous and radiant without too much foundation, I mixed in a drop of my favorite secret skin product ~ Stila’s All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in Kitten ~ with a small amount of the Illuminating Beauty Balm. I applied it all over her face with a damp beautyblender sponge (and even shined up her long legs by mixing the Luminizer and Weleda’s Skin Food body cream), which achieved a French bombshell, superbabe look.BBBeauty2Next, I used the Shape and Shade Custom Contour Duo in Light by gently contouring her cheekbones using the Stila’s double-sided Shape and Shade Custom Contour Brush. After the skin was polished and perfected, I painted on a bit more of the Kitten Luminizer to the high points of her face. Liza has incredible cheekbones and this product gave her that extra shiny, glossy sheen that photographs so well.

No look by me is ever complete without a pop of Convertible Color Cream Blush. Its texture is natural, and it never looks heavy on the skin ~ I call it the dream cream blush. For Liza I used Petunia; it’s a sheer pink that gave her skin a healthy boost and fast flush.

On the lips I applied the Nude Interlude Color Balm Lipstick in Sophie for a nice matte lip, then added Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bellissima to give Liza’s lips a pastel pout, which is gorgeous for black and white photos.BBBeauty3bI gave Liza bold, brushed up brows using Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Pen in Dark, and finished her brows with Stay All Day Brow Gel in Dark Brown to add texture and fullness. It’s all about enhancing the natural shape and maximizing features; that feels and always looks modern and beautiful.

It was important that Liza’s eyes remained strong and sensual, as they were the focal point of her overall look. I kept the color palette warm, and mixed Stila’s Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Deep Burgundy with the Kajal Eye Liner in Tigers Eye. BBBeauty4

BBBeauty5I then piled on Glamoureyes Black Mascara on the top and bottom lashes. I used the color Wheat from the Eyes Are The Window Shadow Spirit Palette as an all over base — Wheat is the most flattering champagne, gold shadow, and made Liza’s eyelids look glossy, which I love! All of these shades look more natural against her gorgeous, pale skin tone, which allowed me to play up the sexy shape of her eyes and give her that sultry, slept-in eye makeup look.BBBeauty6Ciao Bella,
Sarah Lucero xx
