Marfa / Miami / Mykonos

20th January, 2015

We travel for so many reasons: to honor ancient paths, to better understand the world, to broaden our minds, to look within ourselves. We travel because the winds inside our hearts compel us to drift. We travel to escape a dreary winter, we travel for work, we travel for adventure, we travel so that we may achieve stillness. We are made to move, and inside that instinctual action lies an essential meditation. If we are truly wise, we travel for travel’s sake. An ancient Persian saying instructs us, a jewel that never leaves the mine never acquires polish.

We go to the desert, the beach, the next state or the ends of the earth. We seek out stucco walls and endless horizons. We live like monks or like monarchs; either way, on the road it’s all the same. We wear white dresses, black swimsuits and jewelry that fits like a second skin. We are on the path that leads us home.
