Dressing/Room Dreams

9th May, 2014

To me, fashion and interior design are inextricably intertwined. How I style myself and how I style my home are so similar; there’s always a tension between tailored and bohemian, pattern and simplicity, classic and eclectic. The ways I live and dress are outlets for self-expression and also methods of survival ~ both serve to make my life easier and more interesting. I always encourage my friends to invest in their homes (even especially in rented spaces), as a source of inspiration, energy charging and replenishment. When my home feels visually stimulating, clean and comforting, everything else in my life seems to click into place. It is my center.

With that ethos in mind, our team has been working with RueLaLa to help launch their new Dressing Room series, which combines fashion and home looks into well-edited, themed boutiques. The first one launches today at 3pm, and its ‘Bright and Bohemian’ motif is right up my alley. Combining lifestyle accessories like colored glassware with playful fashion moments, we think it’s a wonderful resource for understanding how to translate your personal style into a cohesive, signature decor story.

We took a few of our favorite items from the collection out to Patina in Brooklyn, a new kind of prop house that is the very definition of Bright and Bohemian ~ drenched in sunlight, it’s chock-full of colorfully reupholstered vintage furniture, vibrant art installations and quirky entertaining ideas. We hope this story will inspire you to elevate your everyday adventures in some new way ~ be it a weekend project of repainting a dusty old piece of furniture, new throw pillows for the living room or simply adding a playful jewelry item to an otherwise staid ensemble. And be sure to check out RueLaLa’s Dressing Room launch this afternoon at 3 for more inspiration. {Update: it’s HERE!}DressingRoom2 DressingRoom3 DressingRoom4 DressingRoom5 DressingRoom6 DressingRoom7 DressingRoom8 DressingRoom10|DRESSING/ROOM DREAMS| starring Anna O. |PHOTOGRAPHY| by Reid Rolls |STYLING| by Kelly Framel |FLORAL DESIGN| by Bess Wyrick |HAIR + MAKEUP| by Ana Sicat |ALL CLOTHING| via RueLaLa and Missoni |SHOES| by Via Spiga and Candela |SHOT ON LOCATION| at Patina

Absolutely stunning, as always! Though I’m so so so enamored with those flats in the very first shot, and I couldn’t find them in a link. Do tell! 🙂
