Dressperado1A trek across the American Southwest demands that a born and bred Texas gal call upon her inner cowgirl. Thus, I stuffed my trunk with great basics from Donna Karan New York’s ruggedly elegant Resort 2014 collection and headed toward the horizon. Dressperado2 Dressperado3Leaving the gilded gowns behind in LA, a poet-sleeved, paper cotton shirt felt appropriately pioneering paired with well-loved blue jeans as we rambled around Utah. Dressperado4 Dressperado5 Dressperado6As the sun set in Arizona, linen knits and python prints perfectly punctuated the place where sand meets snow and the world is alit in fire reds and suede shoe blues. Dressperado7 Dressperado8When finally we hit the open plains of West Texas, the dreamiest distressed leather jacket shrugged over a liquid jersey dress with the casual ease of golden grasses waving softly in the breeze. The hazy shades of rust and sunset mimicked with perfect symmetry the horizon we were desperately trying to drive into.
