While I was in LA recently to work with LoveGold, they invited me to be their guest at the Independent Spirit Awards. As a freelance creative producer working in a myriad of mediums, it was immensely inspiring for me to sit in that big Santa Monica tent and witness passionate, working artists be recognized and rewarded. Perhaps I was swept up in the magic of Hollywood, but hearing a slew of cinematographers, writers, directors, and actors talk about operating outside the studio system and fighting that much harder to see their dreams come to fruition was so uplifting for me ~ a reminder that the tougher goal is always the one worth working toward.
One thing that’s never tough is getting me into a formal dress: I’ll take any opportunity! Keeping in mind that this was an afternoon affair, I went for a simple, 90′s-esque, sliver of a slip. You know, something casual. A day gown.
To support the intended grunge references, I paired the look with heavily-mussed tresses (thanks to a double dose of my favorite potion!) and super-90s burgundy lips. I used one of my new favorite palettes on my eyes.
Most importantly, I finished it all off with an epic cuff and ring on loan from Munnu (whose work I also showcased in THIS POST). I’m thoroughly convinced that the two contain magical powers.
