Boot Scootin Boogie

23rd January, 2013

Winter is a bummer, y’all. It is 20 degrees in New York right now and the sun basically sets at lunchtime and I am OVER IT. It’s hard to get around town (walking more than 5 blocks is totally out of the question and my hands freeze off every time I try to hail a cab), I’m constantly losing gloves, working out has become miserable again, and I don’t want to meet up with friends in the evenings because it’s warm in my apartment and the outside world is dark and cold and scary. Also, the legwear options are bleak. I’ve decided that I hate tights (this year ~ I reserve the right to have changed my opinion in another 12 months) and so that basically leaves me with two options: pants or my thigh-high boots. Thank the fashion fairies for those boots! Between my Chanel almost-flats and my Jimmy Choo heels, I have an option for nearly any occasion ~ they’re the only thing keeping getting dressed interesting at the moment.

With a sure-to-be-frigid Fashion Week fast approaching, I’m wondering if perhaps I need another option or two. This Lanvin varietal is crazy chic (but crazy not-cheap), these Michael Kors puppies seem quite cozy and practical, and this Cesare Paciotti pair are just outrageously elegant ~ I think I want them the most, but I’m stalking all three:

  • I would go with the Cesare Paciotti pair. They’re cute, a nice color, on sale, and you said that they are the ones you want most. But hey, for the price of the Lanvin pair, you could get both the Michael Kors ones AND the Cesare Paciotti ones. What do I love more than a pair of shoes? TWO pairs of shoes!

  • Marcela Cristovao

I think that all three are gorgeous depending on when and where you plan to use them.

Thigh high boots are so cute! It doesn’t get cold enough in winter on the Gold Coast for them. I love the colour of the Cesare Paciotti pair, however suede is perfect for winter and the Michael Kors pair are beautiful! xx

    Those boots suite you perfectly!

  • Those boots are so fab.

    lovely all outfit!

  • I’m partial to the Lanvin myself (of course I choose the most pricey!) but I can totally picture you in the Cesare Paciotti pair, and I’d love to see how you style them. Those Chanel zip boots though… I’d snatch those right off your leg when you weren’t looking.

Oh and screw this cold NYC weather! I’m recovering from an appendectomy, and the cold air is like half the reason I haven’t returned to work yet. Brrr.

I’m kind of craving some grey boots myself, and the two you have there look like great options! It’s 15 degrees here today, and I’m struggling to find something to wear that looks professional (I’m a teacher) but will keep me warm!

  • Malibu PR Gal

I feel ya! When had a serious cold snap here in Malibu a few weeks ago – miserable. I’d go with the Micael Kors.

  • I love the Michael Kors ones! And I completely agree with you about tights; there are so many great trousers/pants out there this season that I don’t really feel like wearing a skirt. :/

  • Sarita

I feel the same way about this cold weather, and need it to be over soon! I love the idea of wearing thigh high boots instead of tights and your outfits are amazeballs!

  • Fabulous boots. Chic & totally versatile – Love em!

  • Agreed, it’s been way too cold in NYC lately. Both pairs of grey boots are hot, by the way! Also, you should consider investing in a vintage shearling coat. They’re the warmest thing ever. I picked one up last year on a friend’s recommendation, and it was a game-changer!

  • monkeyshines

    wonderful pairs!

I love seeing you in thigh high boots!!

  • Jennifer

I am the same way.. once I get home after dark, it’s hard to get me back out when it’s so cold!

I have similar one, but I alway was afraid they look to trashy. But know I’m gonna wear them more often 🙂

  • I just bought my first pair of thigh high boots, flat ones, this winter and I adore them! I think I want a heed pair too. Love the look of them. 🙂

feel free to stop by our fashion illustration blog:)

  • Agreed! Those boots look SO comfy and warm!

    giveaway on my blog!

  • I think I need one of those too. There’s no signs of snow here but it’s freezing to death and it’s been raining all the time and I’m sick of it!! God, I do like the cold in sunny winter days but man, the rain drives me crazy!

  • Nikki

    Love those boots

  • Caroline

Love, love, love those boots! It’s funny because I could do with some nice cold weather now. We have day after day of rain which is awful!

  • I feel like jeans become my default in winter as well, but these thigh-high boots have me very intrigued! Though, all your cute dress pics make me wish spring would just hurry up and get here.

  • Little Red Book

Craving over the knee boots…the grey is a great color.

  • Nicolene Richards

I do not always comment, but have been following you for a while. I must admit that your style is most inspiring. Keep up the nice posts!

  • Susan Gray

What a gorgeous post…need those boots.

  • Love thigh-highs! Make my legs look thinner and taller 😉

  • Love thigh-high boots – they are the only things that are getting me through this horrible cold spell! Love all the ways you’ve styled yours.

    Kate xo

  • Yep, Seattle is about the same. Bleak and completely uninspiring. I feel like thigh high boots are starting to make a comeback, so hopefully there will be more (affordable) options soon. For now, I’m just bundled in some good ‘ol blue suede boots.

p.s. the pic of the boots and the khaki trench coat is one of the best fashion photos I’ve ever seen!

    I vote Lanvin!
