This past year has felt at times like a marathon or a whirlwind ~ but there hasn’t been a dull moment! Before we turn the page onto 2013, I wanted to take a moment to remember some of my favorite scenes from 2012.
|ABOVE LEFT| Cheering on the polo with my darling friend Mat Sanders |ABOVE RIGHT| Taking over the night with my stylistic soulmate Jamie Beck
|ABOVE + BELOW| This year has been filled with some unforgettable adventures. Most wonderfully, there was a deeply inspiring sojourn in Paris, and a life-changing jaunt across Marrakech:

|ABOVE| In 2012, I had the honor of representing FLIRT! Cosmetics, a partnership I genuinely enjoyed. Besides being the face of the brand, I was entrusted with hosting their video series, consulted on all fashionable matters ~ including the styling of next year’s campaigns ~ and we made some really fun beauty stories together (examples HERE, HERE and HERE). I’ve loved working with them and am so grateful for the ways they’ve encouraged and supported me creatively over the last year.
|ABOVE| Without question, the happiest thing that happened this year is that my sister, Erin Framel, moved to New York City! I’m so grateful to have her in my life, and the proximity has made us so much closer. I love watching the way the city is changing her ~ she is maturing into the most beautiful, capable, confident woman!
|BELOW| In 2012, I finally embraced exercise! It’s been a fun new revelation for me, a welcome addition to my oftentimes too-harried lifestyle. It’s proven to be just the calming, centering thing I need.
|ABOVE| In 2012, my home was featured in Nate Berkus’s beautiful coffee table book. What an enormous honor!
|ABOVE| More than anything, this year was about challenging myself in my work. At the outset, I made an intention to push myself as far as I could creatively, and really focus on developing my voice as an art director and stylist. Because of this, I worked harder this year than ever before, juggling a lot of projects at once and constantly setting new, tougher goals. It’s left me a little tired, but terribly proud of the work I’ve made and the collaborators I’ve collected. I can’t wait to see what the seeds laid in 2012 will blossom into in the years to come.
|ABOVE + BELOW| I’ve always been passionate about styling, and loved being trusted to do so much of it this year, for clients ranging from BCBG to LL Bean Signature.

|ABOVE + BELOW| For the first time, I had an opportunity to write, direct, costume and produce a cool video project, for Thorny Rose Wines. I’d long been wanting to experiment with this type of expression, and learned so much in bringing this idea from concept to fruition. Next stop, Hollywood!
In addition to developing beauty stories for FLIRT! |ABOVE RIGHT|, I was also able to create dreamworlds for Yves Delorme |ABOVE LEFT| and Cynthia Vincent |BELOW|…
…as well as to style the historic launch of RUBEDO, a special metal designed exclusively for Tiffany & Co.’s 175th anniversary |BELOW|
|ABOVE + BELOW| 2012 was a year of fashion fairytales. Besides celebrating everyday style, I wanted to transport you, my readers, to other worlds and ways of living ~ to remind us all to dream and let life be a fantasy.
SUMMER’S END imagined what things could have looked like after The Great Gatsby ended.
MARRAKEPIC was an exercise in turning experience into artistic expression.
SINFULLY ZEN, THE FEMININE MYSTIQUE, THE DEEP END and MEXICALI ROSE: each journey was designed to catapult us all to another place and time…
…while TEENAGERS AND TIARAS celebrated suburban realness and a casual attitude toward opulence:
|ABOVE + BELOW| This year, I strove to celebrate those who inspire me ~ from designers like Zac Posen, Etienne Aigner, Robert Lee Morris, and Paco Rabanne…
…to too-cool girls like Chelsea Leyland and Athena Calderone:
I also wore a lot of looks this year!
|ABOVE LEFT| Channeling Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy |ABOVE RIGHT| Mixing it up, old-school-style
|ABOVE LEFT| Fashion Week ferociousness |ABOVE RIGHT| Frill-free practicality
|ABOVE LEFT| Obsessing over Helmut Newton |ABOVE RIGHT| Keeping things classically chic
|ABOVE LEFT| Monotonal volume |ABOVE RIGHT| Jumping for joy (and Yohji)
|ABOVE LEFT| Braving life’s storms in style |ABOVE RIGHT| In the New York City swing
|ABOVE LEFT| Long & lean for the CFDA Awards |ABOVE RIGHT| Contemplating a uniform
|ABOVE LEFT| Singing in the rain |ABOVE RIGHT| Fixating on valuable investments
|ABOVE LEFT| Surfin’ sophisticate |ABOVE RIGHT| Having buckets of fun
|ABOVE LEFT| Oversized florals for a larger-than-life city |ABOVE RIGHT| Trawling for art
|ABOVE LEFT| Feelin’ fancy |ABOVE RIGHT| Vibrant frocks and rose-colored carpets
And these are just a few of my most-treasured 2012 memories ~ what an epic year it’s been! Tell me, which has been your favorite feature of late? What would you love to see more of in the year to come?
