After seasons and seasons of really cool girls and forward-thinking designers telling us that the 90s are back, I’ve finally warmed up to the trend. For me, it started when I was styling Chelsea Leyland, and trying to channel her own, authentically neo-nineties aesthetic. Really digging into the idea made it suddenly more appealing to me. From there, I got hooked on the look of high waists and cropped tops, Tom Ford-for-Gucci-level plunging fronts, elegant loafers and anything that could have hung in Carolyn Bessette Kennedy‘s closet.
The one thing I’m convinced is better this time around? Zip-front jeans. Finally, a silhouette that allows you to wear flats and still get the leg-lengthening illusion of heels. A vacuous victory, yes ~ but a victory nonetheless.
