{ DIY } Go For The Gold!

When planning accessories for our Swim Week shoot, I had in mind some sort of graphic, gilded bangles ~ something a little Valley Of The Dolls, really obnoxiously unnecessary poolside accessorization. And when I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, I decided to do-it-myself (as inspired by THIS!). I started with a bevy of vintage bracelets that had seen much better days……and a skinny roll of gold metal tape (it’s only $8, and I’m sure you have the bracelets already).Cut the tape into roughly 5″ strips, and began wrapping them around the first ratty old bangle (any ratty old bangles will do!).Keep cutting and wrapping, cutting and wrapping, until your ratty old bangle is glimmering like a gold medal, all its surfaces recovered. Don’t worry about keeping things too neat, a bit of texture is what makes this look so great.Repeat on another….…and another, until you’ve got a wrist full of liquid gold! For more fun & easy DIY ideas, CLICK HERE!

Loove this DIY, the liquid gold bangles look great when wet, and love that the tape has a bit of reflecting, cause seriously when I first looked at the pic of Christina wearing them, it looked real! :D
Nice job! :D Christina looks great in the pool pics, love her skin tone, eyes and cheekbones. ^^

I actually think that both the before and after look good in their own way. The before has a sort of vintagey feel to it, or like they came from ancient Egypt, and the after have a more arty feel to it. Very cool DIY.

This is so awesome!!! I’ve been on a gold kick for oh…a year? But it always get worse in the gorgeous and simmering summer, which is for sure synonymous with gold. So thanks for this – I like how easy it is! Question: did you get your gold tape at some kind of specialty art store, or hardware store? I go to art stores sometimes, but I’ve never seen gold tape like that!
