This past Saturday, Jamie and Kevin and I ~ joined by our dapper friends Kristian and Mat (above) ~ traversed by boat and then trolly to Liberty State Park to attend the annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.
I’m not usually one to get excited about sporting events (much to my father’s dismay), but this one demanded gentlemen to attend in summer suits and ladies to wear their best hats ~ so my interest was suddenly piqued!
Mat arrived to collect me that morning in the most delightfully dandy ensemble, toting a white rose wrist corsage he’d commissioned for me moments before at our local florist. It was the first of many instances of old fashioned elegance I was in for that day.
Sipping on our favorite champagne, we waltzed away the afternoon, moved by the tinny refrains of old-timey tunes. There was a familial ease to the affair, a truly infectious exuberance.

Jamie was effortless as ever in a vintage hat and Ralph Lauren frock, while I wore an I Love Factory floral crown, a Tibi baby doll top and skirt, and a Rebecca Minkoff bag.
We cheered on the polo teams (congratulations to Black Watch on their victory!), we stomped divots like we meant it, and we relished the excuse to spend a day in the sun with those we love most.
